Dance continually evolves, moving through cultures and across time. Today, we can see how many styles draw inspiration from traditional African movement, rhythm, and community.

Building on our exploration of Jazz’s African roots, this year’s edition of course focuses on Authentic Jazz while introducing the soulful energy of House and the vibrant pulse of Afro dance. Together, these styles celebrate rhythm, connection, and freedom of expression.

We’ll explore how these dances share a common heartbeat—rooted in groove, individuality, and collective energy—while celebrating the unique qualities that make each one shine.

Jump Up North wants to create space for everyone to try out these styles and learn more about the connections between them. This edition’s classes will be in Authentic Jazz, Afro and House.
